You Just Didn't Care Enough

چکیده
We refine the intuitively appealing idea that you are blameworthy for something if it happened because did not care enough. More formally: X (where may be an action, omission, or outcome) just in case there is right causal-explanatory relation between your poor quality of will and X. First, we argue blameworthiness actions, omissions, outcomes concerned with negative differences: fact occurred instead X*, where worse than X*. Second, way which has to fit what for. With these refinements, account already gives correct verdicts cases forgetting, making a difference nevertheless good result, doing action runaway consequences. then discuss suggest simply causation, understood way. Here, draw on causation developed Touborg, The Dual Nature Causation. According this account, two necessary jointly sufficient conditions causation. Roughly, C causes E rather E* iff (a) process-connected E, (b) makes more secure less secure. our now also pre-emption, switching cases, Frankfurt-style collective harm cases.

Just Enough Requirements Traceability
Even though traceability is legally required in most safety critical software applications and is a recognized component of many software process improvement initiatives, organizations continue to struggle to implement it in a cost-effective manner. This panel addresses the problems and challenges of requirements traceability and asks questions such as “How much traceability is enough?” and “Wh...
متن کاملJust Enough Likelihood∗
Statisticians have developed several methods for comparing hypotheses and for estimating parameters from data. Of these, the method of maximum likelihood is remarkable both for its power and for its flexibility. Yet it is seldom covered in introductory statistics courses because it is hard to present either as a canned computer program or within a cookbook-style textbook. It is much too flexibi...
متن کاملWhen Just One Is Enough
Information retrieval systems today scan large data spaces in response to the user's information need, returning lists of retrievables ordered by relevance 11]. In the general case, the tendency is to return as many relevant items as the system can locate. However, in situations where the retrievables are highly similar to one another, one just may be enough. In this extended abstract, we descr...
متن کاملIntentions in teasing: when "just kidding" just isn't good enough.
Teasing is ambiguous. Although the literal content of a tease is, by definition, negative, seldom do teasers intend for their tease to be taken literally. Toward this aim, teasers often attempt to mitigate the negative surface content of the tease by communicating via gesture, facial expression, or tone of voice that they are "just kidding." The research presented here suggests that such attemp...
متن کاملMargaret McCartney: Just enough medicine for all.
This summer I swam in the Baltic and learnt the word lagom. This Swedish word is hard to translate: it means “just right”—not too much and not too little. It also has echoes of fairness, neither ostentatious nor sparse. It is not to do with perfection. An etymological translation is “around the team”—that is, enough for everyone to get a fair share. It’s why our rented house had space in the cu...
